Waymo in the U.S., linked to Google Maps, app allocates self-driving cars

Waymo, Google’s autonomous driving developer under Alphabet in the U.S., announced on the 3rd that it will be linked to Google’s map app “Google Map.” It uses a self-driving car dispatch service through the app.

Waymo One will be added to the “Rideshare Move” tab in the app. Weymowan currently operates only in the East Valley of Phoenix, Arizona. Waymo announced on the 3rd that it will be the first fully autonomous vehicle call option available to Android users. This teamwork not only brings the two alphabet companies together, but also makes Waymo more visible and accessible to the public.Weymo has about 600 cars in the United States. Of these, about 300 to 400 are in Phoenix, but not all vehicles are used for Waymo One service. The Waymo One service uses only unmanned vehicles, so safe drivers do not physically hold the steering wheel. This also allows users to confirm that there is no real safe driver when a pop-up appears on Google Maps. Some vehicles in the Phoenix area are used for testing. Waymo did not share exactly how many self-driving cars it operates as part of its service.

This process still requires some app hopping. There is no direct way to make a reservation and pay for it using Waymo One on Google Maps. Instead, users must move to Waymore Pre to complete their reservations. Users must first enter a path to and from the location in Weymo’s Metro Phoenix area, including parts of Chandler, Mesa and Tempi on Android devices. Users can find out the estimated price and Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) of Waymo usage when they press the ride sharing or public transportation tab.Existing Waymo One riders must be moved to Waymo Plus to make boarding reservations, and new users must go to the Playstore and download them.
